Field University is One Alabama's statewide organizing experience — a one-day, hands-on training that prepares volunteers, students, church teams, and community organizers to have real conversations with voters, and put the work into practice the same day.

What you'll learn

Hands-on experience with phone and text outreach, voter engagement, relational messaging, and neighborhood organizing — plus live canvassing practice in the field.

Starting the conversation

How to open a conversation about the issues that actually matter to your neighbors.

Calls that don't sound forced

Phone banking tools, and how to work a script without sounding scripted.

Texting that gets a reply

Live texting practice with the platforms and language we use statewide.

Notes that feel personal

Handwritten messages on door hangers and palm cards — written like a neighbor.

Visiting like a neighbor

Canvassing technology, role play, and live practice in the field the same day.

What to wear

Casual, comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Participants canvass a neighborhood immediately following the live training labs.
